

She was born August 26, 1918 in Sebree, KY, the daughter of Woodford Garland Jones and Maggie Larntine (Shelton) Jones. They moved to Indianapolis when she was a child. She spent most of her life in Indianapolis before moving to Frankfort in her later years. Her family was her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Avanelle was known to many as Miss B.
Avanelle is survived by her children, Suzanne Mitchell, Stephen Brinkley, Linda Emswiller, Gary Brinkley, Kathy Handy, Andrea (Joe) Corsaro, and Vickie (Tandy) Branham; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Brinkley in 1985; son-in-law, Frank Emswiller; and dear friend, Maggie Corsaro.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis. Her life will be celebrated Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with a burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Little Sister of the Poor.
